In 2002 Ferrari replaced the 550 Maranello with the new 575M Maranello. While the sleek GT coupe
may have looked much like it’s predecessor, it was changed so much beneath it’s skin that it
warranted the “M” for “modified” designation.
These modifications included a larger and more powerful engine, using the transmission from
Ferrari’s Formula One race cars. This was the first application of this lightening fast gear shift
technology to a Ferrari with a V12 engine. The 575M benefited from a 5.8 liter V12 engine churning
out 515 horse power.
The car rides on a suspension that automatically adjusts, a technology for the Enzo Ferrari.
The 2002 Maranello superior-handling GTC features 19 inch wheels through which you can see the
carbon-fiber brake discs, a feature previously only available on the Ferrari Enzo
The interior was all redesigned in 2002. Inside the car has an all new design with primary gauges
clustered into a single housing. Seats that adjust electronically for driver and passenger comfort.
To deal with higher speeds and dynamic capabilities, the body work also was modified, especially
at the front with a smaller grille.
The 575M was produced from 2002 to 2006, and priced at $251,000 plus options.
